VEGAN FASHION WEEK is coming to the Fashion District

You read it correctly! The first-ever VEGAN FASHION WEEK (VFW) will be hosted by the California Market Center in the Fashion District. Produced by LE FRENCHLAB and set to happen February 1st to February 4th, VEGAN FASHION WEEK “is designed to empower conscious brands and humans globally with an elevated platform for achievement, inspiration, and discovery.”

VEGAN FASHION WEEK starts off with its Opening Soirée & Tribute – Friday, February 1st at the Natural History Museum. An industry-only event with very limited seats. The opening event will include a talk by the climate scientist and Nobel Peacae Prize laureate Robert Lempert, along with the galleries and areas of the museum available to explore and a vegan fashion show.

Day 2, February 2nd, is a big day as the main Vegan Fashion Show will be taking place at the California Market Center from 6pm to 12am, available to VIP Ticket holders only. Besides the show on Day 2 there will be a Vegan Lounge & Panels taking place throughout the day (11am to 5pm).

Day 3, February 3rd is a full day (10am to 4 pm) of Vegan Lounge & Panels. “Businesses and organizations will have the opportunity to connect with conscious and like-minded individuals through activations and experiential exhibitions, and a conference featuring intellectual panels discussing the most critical issues in the fashion industry and the existing alternatives.”

A Private Fundraiser will take place marking the end of VEGAN FASHION WEEK on Monday, February 4th.

Overall, we can’t wait to see VEGAN FASHION WEEK make its mark in the Fashion District. We hope to see you there!

A Guide to LA Market Week: Summer ’19 Edition

The Summer 2019 LA Market Week, also known as LA Fashion Market will be held January 14 to January 16. Designers and brands will debut their collections for the upcoming Summer season at the showroom buildings on 9th and Los Angeles Streets. Additionally, multiple trade shows showcasing temporary collections (designers that do not have permanent showrooms in the Fashion District) will also be showcasing collections.

CMC Market Week

Market Week is a trade-only event and buyers must be able to prove they have, or are working for, a licensed business.

Buyers will need to register for the LA Market Week at each building. At the Cooper Design SpaceGerry Building and The New Mart, buyers and retailers are asked to bring a business card. At the California Market Center (CMC), in order to register for market weeks, you must be able to provide the following credentials:

  • ONE of the following (copies are allowed): business license, seller’s permit, lease agreement, filing of fictitious business name (documents must be pertinent to the industry)
  • ONE of the following (per person): personalized business card, payroll stub, company credit card with buyer’s name

Registration for LA Market Week is typically on-site although some trade shows do offer pre-registration online.

    1. Time management: Managing your time while at Market Week is crucial. We recommend buyers make appointments with popular brands early, as they tend to book up quickly. We also suggest allotting time to walk the buildings, because sometimes the biggest successes are the showrooms you stumble upon by accident.
    2. Pre-plan: Buyers who come with a clear vision for what kind of styles and brands they are looking for will have a more successful market experience. Know your shopper and research brands you might be interested in ahead of time. We also recommend visiting trade show and showroom buildings’ websites and pre-register when possible. Lastly, as a buyer, make sure your inventory and budget levels are well planned out before your visit.
    3. Network: Building strong connections while attending LA Market Week can lead to lasting partnerships with vendors. Bring business cards and always follow up with new partners. Take advantage of educational and networking events whenever possible.
