Bollywood actress Kimmy Verma’s Shail K. evening wear line has landed in the Fashion District.
Local boutique, Sahiba Fashions is the only Shail K. vendor in the area. The store opened about a year and a half ago and offers special occasion, pageant dresses, and evening gowns in all sizes (yes, plus-size!). Shail K. is known for it’s Indian-inspired designs. In fact, the line was created when Verma realized there was nothing in the market that successfully incorporated Indian culture with contemporary design. The dresses feature intricate hand-beaded details and silk lining. It takes four weeks to hand-bead one dress!
Styles range from sexy to modest, perfect for prom, pageants, and weddings. Prices range from $300 to $600, but shoppers can score major discounts by shopping blowout sales which are announced periodically on Sahiba’s Facebook and Instagram. When we visited the store, cocktail dresses were marked down to $50! Layaway options are also available.
Looking for a unique prom dress but don’t know where to start? Even though there’s 55+ prom dress stores in the Fashion District, Sahiba Fashions make itself stand out for it’s unique prom dress selection and customization options. Like the top on one dress and the bottom on another? Sahiba will custom make a dress combining both designs. Dresses can alsobe ordered and made in any color. Custom orders typically take six weeks to process and manufacture.
Prom shoppers are automatically entered to win the “Sahiba Prom Queen” contest. The winner gets free limo service, hair and makeup, and a prom photoshoot. Perhaps more importantly, Sahiba tracks orders by school and guarantees to not sell the same design to students attending the same prom. Prom shoppers an take advantage of the “good student discount,” just bring in your report card.
Fun Fact: Bradley Cooper stopped by the store with his sister to shop for a Tony Awards dress.
