The LA Fashion District is home to the largest selection of textiles and notions in the United States. The area of the district where our textile and notions vendors are concentrated has been dubbed “The LA Fabric District.” Much like the Flower District and Santee Alley, this subsection of the district has gained popularity for its hidden gems and treasures.
Textile and notion stores are generally centered within four blocks, from 8th Street to Olympic Boulevard, between Maple Avenue and San Julian Street. (Download a map of the area here.) There are approximately 200 vendors selling fabrics, trim, and beading for apparel, crafts, and home decor. The selection ranges from novelty fabrics to exotic silks and European upholstery.
If you’re a first-time visitor to the area, we suggest starting your trip at Michael Levine. Michael Levine has been in the Fashion District for almost 70 years offering everything for your design and craft needs. You’ll find upholstery and drapery fabrics across the street at their home decor location and fabric remnants sold by the pound at “The Loft”.
Recommendations for first-timers:
Not unlike the rest of the district, we suggest browsing a couple different stores before making a purchase to get the best deal. As always, the more you purchase the more likely you are to receive a discount!
